CAPTCHA

CAPTCHA is a technique used to differentiate between a human and a bot when submitting data to a web site. This is done in order to counter spam comments etc. It was interesting to find out the full form for the acronym -
CAPTCHA is an initialism for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and
H
umans Apart", trademarked by Carnegie Mellon University

Captchas are mostly used to prevent automated data entries such as registration, comments on blogs, etc.

I used to have CAPTCHA for my blog comments, but since then have been using Akismet to fight spam. This way, anyone who may want to comment doesn't have to bother typing in CAPTCHAS.
